Welcome to Highland Oak Dental in Frisco, Texas. We treat your children like our own!
At our practice, we enjoy caring for patients of all ages, including children. We are pleased to provide pediatric dentistry to help you keep your child’s smile in good health.
What will my child’s first dental appointment be like?
We encourage you to bring your child to our dental office every six months for a regular dental exam and cleaning. During this visit, Dr. Shiney George and our dental team will gently clean your child’s teeth and check for signs of dental problems, such as tooth decay. Each member of our dental team is caring and gentle, and we are certain to put your child at ease. We understand that it is important to build a positive, trusting relationship between your child and the dentist at a young age, and we are dedicated to ensuring that your child feels comfortable and safe at our office. If you have any questions about your child’s dental health or oral development, we welcome you to ask us during the visit or by calling our dental office.
How do I help my child care for their teeth?
In addition to bringing your child to our office for regular check-ups, it is important that you help your child establish good oral hygiene habits at home. Teach your child to brush and floss their teeth every day. Have your child follow these simple steps:
- Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
- Brush the front, back, and sides of every tooth.
- Brush your tongue.
- Do not swallow your toothpaste.
- Floss every day to remove plaque from between the teeth.
To further help your child’s oral health, make sure that your child’s water is fluoridated. If your drinking water is not fluoridated, our dentist may prescribe fluoride supplements. Have your child eat a well-balanced diet that is low in starch and sugary foods. When your child does eat these foods, try to have them with a meal instead of as a snack.
We invite you to call or visit our dental office today to learn more about pediatric dentistry and how we can care for you and your family.
