Oral Conditions That May Cause Sore Gums
Do you have sore gums? There are numerous possible causes, but here are a few:
Gingivitis – Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease that causes inflammation, redness, and irritation. It can also make your gums tear and bleed easier, which can cause pain.
Thrush – This is a fungal infection in the mouth that’s often identified by white spots on the tongue or cheeks. They can also spread to your gums and cause irritation.
Periodontitis – This is a more severe form of gum disease caused by plaque that attacks the tissue and bones. Gum soreness is the primary symptom.
Women may also experience gum disease during pregnancy, with hormone fluctuations, or during menopause.
Other causes could include a canker sore or dental appliances.
